Weird Clocks

Confrérie Horlogere for Only Watch 2009

Mathias Buttet, CEO of BNB Concept has founded a really interesting competition called Confrérie Horlogere, where seven of BNB member's will create personal horological machines to be produced in a very exclusive number (less than ten pieces each).

Here they are:

1.- Ranieri Illicher, from Italy. This is one of his creations:

2.- Ken Koyishama, fron Japan with his creation: "Racines Japanaise"

3.- Sabitry Montandon

4.- David Rodriguez, from Peru. With his almost autobiographical creation: "La Résilience", in witch you can see scars and stitchings. Curious timepiece.

5.- Clara Bise

6.- Brigitte Carneiro, with her creation "La Face Cachée"

.and one more of her talent: "The Tourbillon Arabesque"

7.- Gabriel Salgado de Arce with his "ecologic" timepiece called ImmenSEAty (not my favorite. but it's original)

This is simply gross... the clock itself isn´t something extrange, it´s just a simple red digital clock in a metal case... but it is hanging in some real and "crucified" bird!



This "real bird" cuckoo clock is the result of german Michael Sans´s mind. According to him, this bird died of natural causes back in 1958, so he nailed the bird and atached to his neck a digital clock. The result.... some gross unique clock, fortunately is not for sale.



Eso es simplemente grotesco... el reloj en sí no es nada extraordinario, sólo un simple reloj digital con números rojos y carcaza metálica... pero está colgando del cuello de un pájaro real y "crucificado"!

Este reloj cucú con pájaro real es el resultado de la mente del alemán Michael Sans. De acuerdo a él, este pájaro murió de causas naturales en 1958, así que lo clavó por sus alas y le colgó por su cuello el reloj digital. El resultado... un reloj grotesco y único, por suerte no está a la venta.

This is an amazing clock made of water jets at the entrance of Kanazawa Station (Japan). To say it correctly, this is not a clock but a whole sign system. That's why people arriving at station gets a "Welcome" messege and time info in that display.

Kanasawa is well known for its wood, that's why the main entrance or gate is a fantastic wooden one...

Este es un sorprendente reloj hecho con chorros de agua en la entrada de la estación de Kanazawa (Japón).
Para decirlo correctamente, no es un reloj sino un sistema para mostrar información. La gente que arriva a la estación es bienvenida con un mensaje y la hora en este particular reloj.

Además se pueden apreciar en las fotos: el portal de la entrada principal de Kanazawa que es fantástico y hecho de madera ya que la ciudad es reconocida por sus maderas.
El techo de la estación es una fantástica estructura metálica.

Who am i? Just a guy with some time (hey! i have a lot of watches! ;) ) and a passion on watches. I am from Rosario, Argentina.

The picture above is a famous landmark in Prague. It´s an ancient astronomical clock from 1410. There is an interesting story about it, and says that the man who made it after finishing it gone blind so he couldn't make another one... so this is a unique piece of art.
Among other interesting things, this clock has a nice skeleton that racke his bones when the clock strikes the hours! ;)
Another interesting thing about it are the numbers... just take a look at numbers 4 and 7... aren´t they weird?!

Este blog es acerca de relojes. Grandes, pequeños, lindos o feos, raros, viejos, nuevos, futuristas y sorprendentes. Por qué hacer este blog? Simple: porque me encantan los relojes y como yo, mucha gente comparte ese sentimiento. Que disfruten este blog! ;)
Quién soy yo? sólo alguien con algo de tiempo (claro! tengo muchos relojes! ;) ) y pasión por los relojes. Soy de Rosario, Argentina.

La foto superior es de un famoso lugar en el centro de Praga. Es un reloj astronómico antiguo del año 1410. Hay una historia interesante acerca de su creador, se dice que después de terminarlo, quedó ciego, razón por la cual no pudo construir otros relojes como este... y convierte al mismo en una pieza de arte única.
Entre varias cosas interesantes del reloj, hay que notar un hermoso esqueleto que sacude sus huesos cuando el reloj marca las horas! ;)
Otra cosa que me llamó la atención son los números... fíjense a los números 4 y 7... no son raros?!
